Automotive Innovation Award 2017

The dinner finale of the automotive innovation award was hosted in the Louwman Museum on the 13th of February. As one of the finalists in the challenging concepts category, we were invited to join.

It all started with an application back in October 2016. A text of only 85 words and a fifteen minute phone call was all we got to show the jury what our strengths are. Together with nine other applications we awaited the jury’s verdict, from which two other applications were also sent from the Eindhoven University of Technology.

After a two month wait we heard the great news that we were one out of four nominees for the finals in the challenging concept category. We were asked to deliver a two minute video to visualize our concept. Because Lina does not yet exist, we used mainly stock footage with smart editing skills to tell our story as clear as possible.

A month later we heard we were one out of three finalists and we were asked to present our concept in the BNR Autoshow. The DJ’s gave us 30 seconds to pitch our concept. In the end the DJ’s voted that Solar Team Eindhoven should win the award. On the evening of February 13th it was time for the dinner finale. At a dinner for the top of the automotive branch the winners of the three categories were announced by former prime-minister Jan Peter Balkenende.

Unfortunately, we did not win the award, but we are still very proud of being one of the finalists in our category. The final event was a great way to meet new people and we got a lot of media attention by getting this far. We want to thank the organization for everything and we hope to be back in two years!
